Tours in Naples & Pompeii by Mariarty
Two very different worlds: lively, layered Naples and the ghosts of ancient Pompeii.
Naples is a city of cloister courtyards, noble palaces, music, cinema and – yes – the mafia, once the capital of a kingdom and the third most populous city in Europe after Paris and London. Pompeii is the Roman city frozen in time by Vesuvius. Both tours are private and led in English by a guide from Mariarty’s team.
Prices are per group, in euros, and already include English-language guiding. Entrance tickets, food and drinks are paid separately. To book, message us on WhatsApp, Telegram or Imo with your date, group size and the tour you like.

We get to know the city through its monastery cloisters, mansions, music and cinema. You will see the main city shrines from the Cathedral to the tomb of Vlad Dracula, hear about the times when Naples was the capital of a kingdom and the third most populous city after Paris and London, and get a little closer to the Neapolitans themselves, their manners, traditions and habits.
Our route starts at Porta Capuana. Winding through the streets, we reach the student district and then head for Castel Nuovo, uncover the secrets of Piazza del Plebiscito and, as a final chord, enjoy the view of Vesuvius and the harbour.

Pompeii: Ghosts of an Ancient City

In October AD 79 the eruption of Vesuvius buried the city under metres of ash. For more than 1,500 years it lay hidden and its location was forgotten, until in the 1590s the architect Domenico Fontana found its walls while digging a canal, and in the 18th century large-scale excavations began.
We walk the restored streets, visit the Forum and the Street of Abundance, look into laundries, bakeries, baths and the brothels, proudly called lupanaria. We talk about the great tragedy, learn about the everyday life and habits of the ancient Romans, how people here entertained themselves and earned money, who managed to escape, and why the city was not rebuilt despite the power of the empire. We also discuss the codependent relationship of the painter Karl Bryullov and his muse Giulia Samoylova, who often strolled the streets of Pompeii, and see where he painted his famous canvas.
